Tip: How to judge the speed better
They say putting is all about the feel so next time you're on the putting green, grab a ball in your hand and toss it towards the hole. Use your feel to judge how much you need to toss the ball. Now grab your putter and putt the ball with the same strength as when you tossed the ball. Did it go in? If not, try again.
On a real round, you won't be able to toss a ball towards the hole assume you are holding an imaginary ball in your hand. Try to pretend the little weight of the ball in your hand then make a few toss moves with your hand. Try to get the feel then putt away.
This technique will give you more confidence and feel for the speed of the greens. Just make sure to get the feel on the putting green before you step out on the course for your round. Add this to your putting drills and soon, you'll become one of the best putters around.

How to roll the ball
Putting is all about rolling the ball to the intended target which is the hole itself. But our putts aren't always a pure roll. It sometimes jumps when the putter head hits the ball and it goes off line. How do we guarantee a pure roll and not a jump? Try to hit the ball on the center of the ball when you line up your putt. The ball jumps when you hit too high or too low on the putter head. Try to keep the putter head low to the ground when you swing the putter head back and through.
Tip: Get your eyes on top of the ball
When setting up to putt your ball, lean forward until your eyes are above the ball. Adjust your arms and get closer to the putt line. This will ensure the ball will roll down the intended line, instead of losing it left or right. Putters are designed specifically for golfers where their eyes are on top of the ball, at least for optimum putting.
Opinion: Flag in or flat out?
With the new golf rules, you can choose to leave the flag in the hole or to take it out. Most of the time, it's personal preference but one strategy you want to adopt is to take out the flag when you see more of the back of the cup and to leave it in otherwise. The reason is because if you are intending to hit the back of the cup, you don't want the flag to get in the way. If the ball hits the flag before the back of the cup, you have the chance the ball will jet left or go right. Another strategy is to leave the flag in if you are putting downhill. If the greens slope away from the ball, you may want the flag to slow down the ball if you were to run over the hole. On fast greens, the flag may stop or slow down the ball if you miss the hole slightly. Before removing the flag, it is courteous to other players if you ask first.
Tip: Keep track of your putts
Add a line on your score card and keep track of the number of putts you make per hole. This will give you an idea on how much your putting counts. Try to get your putting down to under 25 putts.
